“Ike” “Walt”

Age 76, of Burnsville, died peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday, March 26. Preceded in death by parents, Roy & Ruby (Langley) Eiker. Survived by Paula, his wife of 55 years, his three children, daughter Tracy Ferris, sons Gregory (Barbara) & Steven (Robbie) Eiker, his granddaughters Kaitlyn Ferris and Lily Jo Eiker (to be born in April), and his sister, Alice Dennis, of Pennsylvania. His youth was spent in York, PA, and he served in the USAF from 1955-59. Most of his working life as a systems analyst was spent at Sperry Univac through its various name changes up thru Lockheed Martin. He retired in 1999 and became a very happy babysitter for his first granddaughter, yard man extraordinaire, occasional golfer and #1 helper to his son in building his house. Ike enjoyed travelling, eating out, keeping his car sparkling clean, trips to Duluth, and doing anything for his family. At his request there will be no funeral service. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Avenue, Apple Valley, on Wednesday, April 2, from 4-7 pm. A private inurnment and celebration of Walt’s life will be held in Duluth in early summer. Memorials are preferred to Sharing & Caring Hands.
