LOGUE

Harriet F., formerly of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away April 21, 2009 at Augustana Apple Valley Health Care Center, Apple Valley, MN after a lengthy illness.
Harriet Frances Pinkert, daughter of Rudolph and Lydia (Dahme) Pinkert was born January 11, 1920 and raised on the family farm in rural Alban Township, SD. After graduating from high school in Ortonville, MN she earned a teaching certificate from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD and a degree as a Registered Nurse from the Sioux Valley School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, SD. During the polio epidemic of the late 1940’s, Harriet worked in the polio units in the hospitals at Rapid City, SD and Hot Springs, SD. She met and married Joe Logue in Hot Springs, February 26, 1949. In the early 1950’s, Harriet and Joe moved to Sioux Falls, SD to raise their family. Harriet worked as a registered nurse at Sioux Valley Hospital and then Royal C. Johnson Veterans Hospital until retirement. She avidly encouraged her children’s and grandchildren’s musical pursuits. She loved gardening and adored her grandchildren.

Harriet is survived by her children, Lynn Logue, Apple Valley, MN and Jim (Becky) Logue, Elkhorn, NE; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Erin (Nick) Bradley and Anabelle, Amber Logue and Joe Logue, Elkhorn, NE; and Jed (Jessica) Logue, Julienne and Jocelyn, Statesville, NC; brothers, Harry (Arla) Pinkert, her twin, and Armin (Bea) Pinkert, Big Stone City, SD and Paul Pinkert, Madison, WI; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Reuben Pinkert; her husband, Joe; and sister-in-law, Ellie Pinkert. Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 9th, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Christ the Victor Chapel in First Lutheran Church, 12th Street and Dakota Ave, Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will be at Hills of Rest in Sioux Falls. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran’s Music Ministry and the Mayo Foundation. Henry W Anderson Mortuary, 952-432-2331.
