Gavanda, Walter F. age 92, of Bloomington, died on April 26. Preceded in death by his wife, Claradonna “Donna”; parents and siblings, Donald, Martin, Frieda and Elsie. Survived by his sister, Margaret Johnson, Bloomington; many nieces and nephews; good friend, Mylah Anderson. Walter was born on Aug. 20, 1913 in Sauk Rapids, MN to Elizabeth & Michael Gavanda. On March 4, 1935, Walter married Claradonna “Donna” Schwartz. He worked for NW Bell and the Standard Oil Co. in IN and MN for 35 years, retiring in 1972. Walt was an usher for the American Wrestling Assoc. (AWA) in the 60’s and was also involved with Alcoholics Anonymous for over 30 yrs. He was very active in the Professional baseball scene in the area over the years, first volunteering with the Mpls. Millers in the 50’s and then working with the MN Twins in various part-time capacities since they came to town in 1961. Memorial Mass, Wednesday, 11 AM, Catholic Church of St. Edward, 9401 Nesbitt Ave. S., Bloomington, with a gathering of family and friends at 10AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud. Memorials preferred to the Church of St. Edward, the Order of the Sisters of St. Benedict or Alcoholics Anonymous, 9221 Bryant Ave., Bloomington.
