Sharon Sylvia (O’Brien) Warwick,

Age 78 of Minneapolis, passed away June 18, 2023. Preceded in death by husband, John; brother-in-law, Daniel Clausen; and parents, Clement and Virginia O’Brien. Survived by son, Aaron (Karen); grandchildren, Sophia, Henry, and Stella; sister, Mary Clausen; brothers, Michael (Lynn) and Allen (Michele) O’Brien, several nieces and nephews, good neighbors, and many friends.

Born in Prairie du Chien, WI, Sharon moved to Minneapolis in 1962 to study broadcasting at Brown Institute. After, she worked at KMSP-TV and KSTP-TV. She then met John Warwick, married, had a son, Aaron, and became a stay-at-home mom and volunteer. She furthered her schooling at Minneapolis Community College, where she was the editor of the school newspaper and received her Associate of Arts degree, and then from Metro State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She retired in 2010 from the Minneapolis Public Works department where she served as a trainer for many years. Sharon served as Commissioner for the Minneapolis Civil Rights Commission, was campaign treasurer for Mayor Sharon Sayles-Belton, and read for the Radio Talking Book for the Blind. Sharon was a strong believer in unions and a lifelong Democrat. She was a member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1970. Sharon’s hobbies included reading, poetry, writing, playing Canasta and Scrabble, visiting the North Shore, and spending time with John and her family. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Visitation,  Monday, June 26, 2023 from 5-7pm at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4120 17th Ave. S., Minneapolis.

Service, Tuesday, 11am with visitation one hour prior, and a luncheon to follow, all at the church.

Interment will follow at Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
