Flanders, Scott L.

Age 64 of Burnsville, passed away on April 21, 2023. Preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Lee. Survived by loving wife, Deb; children, Erik (Jamie), Ryan, Amy (Christian), and Katie (Raleigh); bonus children, Samantha (Nathan) Hardin and Patrick; grandson, Caleb Turner; bonus granddaughters, Harper and Emelia Hardin; brother, Bruce (Karen); mother of his children, Hilary; loyal companion, Coda; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Scott was born in Lawrence, KS. Despite having most recently lived in Minnesota for more than 2 decades, his devotion to Kansas sports was unwavering.

Scott was a man of many things.

Scott was an audiophile. An avid admirer, restorer, and collector of stereo equipment, through which he channeled the ballads of classical rock icons incessantly. Particularly, his favorite band, The Who.

Scott was a concert enthusiast. He wasn’t just a casual viewer, he would proactively devise plans to meet the band after a show, holding with him a sharpie and a blank guitar pick guard that would inevitably end up with all the band members’ signatures sprawled across it. The sheer joy he exuded when his plan succeeded was a spectacle that often rivaled the show itself. The pick guards are proudly mounted on his expansive collection of acoustic and electric guitars.

Scott was a craftsman, deserving of his own HGTV show. The talent he displayed in home-improvement, DIY ventures, and fixer-upper projects was the result of a lifetime of passion and dedication toward building and creating at the whim of his imagination. He was a designer, a builder, a practitioner, and artist. All skill and knowledge were passed down from his equally talented father; an immense point of pride for him. If he knew how to do it, he was going to do it himself. If he didn’t know how to do it, he would do it himself anyway, and learn along the way.

Scott was a man of God. Raised in a strong Christian family, he devoted his life to a higher power. A Bible was never far out of reach. He used God’s word to guide himself through life and stood strong in his faith in the face of adversity.

Above all else, Scott was a loving father, husband, brother, and friend. Ultimately, Scott’s heart was fullest when giving his time and love to his family and those he cared about.
