Landstad, Scott James
age 45, of Mpls., passed away June 14, 2016. Born Nov. 19, 1970 in Mpls. to James and Diane (Hyytinen) Landstad. Scott attended South High School in Mpls., where he graduated with the class of 1989. He went on to earn a BA degree (Sociology and History) from the University of MN, Twin Cities in 1996. He loved to travel; he studied in Finland during college and served in the Peace Corps in Petrozavodsk, Russia from 1997 to 1999. Scott later pursued a career in IT, enjoying the technical and problem-solving aspects of his job at Fairview Health Services, as well as his teammates. Scott met his wife Laura (Lentz) in 2011, and they married Dec. 27, 2015. He was an avid reader who savored quiet time with a good book. He also lived an active and adventurous life, with a love of hiking, camping, biking, photography and astronomy. His photographs of the national parks he explored, as well as of the night sky, moon, and stars, reflected his love for nature and his curiosity about the world around him. Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents and father. He is survived by wife Laura; mother Diane of Aitkin, MN; sister Kristin (Alan Bickford) of Detroit Lakes, MN; nephews Benjamin and Joshua; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Mon., June 20 at Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church, 5011 31st Ave. S., Mpls., MN. Visitation one hour prior. Burial ceremony will be 1:00 PM Tues., June 21 at Rabbit Lake Cemetery near Aitkin, MN (Glen Township) with refreshments at 2:00 PM at First Lutheran Church. Memorials are preferred to MN Astronomical Society, The Nature Conservancy, or MN Oncology.
