Salomone, Pamela Rogers

Age 67 of Apple Valley, passed away on March 2, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Rogers; and sister, Marcy Rogers Stamey. She is survived by her children, Bob (Tracy), Christine (Chase) Foy, and Dan (Allie); grandchildren, Hunter, Avery, Anna, Millie, and Leo; siblings, Paula Rogers and Mark (Julie) Rogers; teachers and students at Transition Plus; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pam was born on Oct. 21, 1955, in Batavia, N.Y., starting a journey that took her around the world and affected everyone in her path. Growing up, she was active in Girl Scouts and loved to ice skate, ride horses, ski (water and snow), bike, camp, and boat on Owasco Lake. She attended Auburn High School and then Nazareth College, where she met a certain mustached point guard with short shorts from nearby St. John Fisher. With Rick, they raised three “beautiful and remarkable children” – her words, not theirs – and began a lifelong connection with travel. After two kids were born in Florida and one surprised them in Ohio, they embarked on a three-year family adventure to Australia, a springboard to seeing the other side of the globe. While abroad, she made deep friendships that remained until her final departure and will continue through their children.

Then the family traded The Outback for Outback Steakhouses and moved to Minnesota, rekindling Pam’s love for all things snow that courses through her children’s veins. Minnesota, particularly Apple Valley, became a home that she never wanted to leave. It had everything her children could ever want and was a stone’s throw away from the Bowers cousins in Hudson, Wisc.

But Pam was too good to be kept to just her circle of family and friends. The gift of Pam needed to be shared.

Life led her to 25+ years in special education, a profession that is more than a profession but a way of life. In addition to spending countless nights as a group home coordinator while achieving her master’s in education from the University of St. Thomas, she served for two decades as a teacher and case manager at Transition Plus, a program for young adults, ages 18-21 with special needs, who are pursuing their transition goals. Their mission is to educate learners to reach their full potential in developing daily life skills. Mission complete. https://tp.district196.org/
