Norma Jane Halter was born May 21, 1939 to Otto and Vera (Gifford) Halter at home on the family farm near Butterfield, MN. She passed away on May 8, 2013 at The Lodge On Summit Oaks in Burnsville at the age of 73.

She attended country school and graduated from Lamberton High School in 1957. She went on to work in Minneapolis, first for an insurance company for 15 years, and then for Northern States Power Company. She was promoted to the position of Financial Analyst-Supervisor where she oversaw construction budgets in a 5-state area until her retirement in 1999.

In June, 1977 she was married to Virgil Anderson. While they remained close friends till the end, the marriage lasted just three years.

Norma was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. In her own words, Norma said, “I enjoy golfing, a little gambling, a drink now and then, dancing, and laughing a lot all the time!”

Norma is survived by four siblings, Donna Smith of Rapid City, SD; Doris Hammer of The Dalles, OR; Shirley (and husband Glen) Olson of Boulder City, NV; and Loren (and wife Marge) Halter of The Dalles, OR; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto (1975) and Vera (1987); brothers Wendell (1935) and Harold (1960); and sister Lorene Hammer (1972).

Norma’s funeral will be on Friday, May 17 at Central Lutheran Church at 333 12th St S., Minneapolis. Visitation is at 10:00 and the service will begin at 11:00. Burial will be in Jeffers, MN in the afternoon.
