Monica Lee Stokvis,

Age 61 of South Minneapolis, born December 20, 1961, in Minneapolis to Jerome “Jerry” & Erika Hellerstedt, passed away October 26, 2023, with her niece at her side.

Monica will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 34 years, Gary Stokvis; mother, Erika Legler-Hellerstedt; stepsons, Gary Jr. and Tony (Kristy) Stokvis; grandchildren: Keegan, Kinsley and Keeley; sister, Marlene Hanold; nieces and nephew: Carla (Seth), Andrew, and Erika Hanold; aunt, Liz Newgard, cousins: Gina, Cheryl (Vernon), Stephen (Dementrie), Renee (Chris), Terry (Joy) and faithful dog, Luci.

She is preceded in death by her father, Jerome “Jerry” Hellerstedt; brother, Mark Hellerstedt; aunt, Darlene (Jerry) and uncle Dean; father-in-law, Hank Stokvis; brother-in-law, Paul Hanold.

Monica graduated from Rosevelt High School and later met the love of her life, Gary, and married September 9, 1989. Monica had many hobbies which included gambling, playing games, baking, dogs, fishing, and crafts. Monica had suffered for years with a heart and lung illness but always rallied. She loved spending time with her family and always showered them with gifts. She was known as “Kukky” by her nieces and nephew.

A visitation will be held 5-7 PM, Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Henry W Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave in Apple Valley. A private inurnment will take place at Acacia Park Cemetery.
