Kise, Kurt L.

Age 59 of S. Mpls.

Kurt passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard A. Kise. He is survived by his mother, Arlene; brothers, Jim and Jon (Julie); nephew, Jason (Alexis); niece, Tina (Alex); grandnephew, Marshall; grandnieces, Madelyn and River; and special friend, Mike Tyler. Kurt was born with Down syndrome, yet he lived a full and wonderful life at home with his parents despite this disability. He began to show signs of dementia when he was 55 years old and eventually moved into a residential care home three years later. Zealand house was a pleasant place to live, and though his health deteriorated quickly, the care he received was exceptional. The staff were wonderful, and they treated Kurt like family. While growing up, Kurt enjoyed many good times at the family cabin on Lake Florida where he was able to spend quality time with neighbors there such as the Lenz’s, the Ekhoff’s, and the Wohlman’s. Kurt was quite proud of a giant bass he once caught off the dock! Kurt like to play (and usually won) the game of Trouble with his brother Jon. He loved music and enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk. Kurt also loved going to church and was disappointed if it was missed. Kurt will be missed by many. Memorial Service at 11am on Sat., April 13, 2024, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1720 E. Minnehaha Pkwy., Mpls., with visitation one hour prior. Interment will occur at a later date.
