A visitation will be held 4-7 PM, Friday, March 15 at Henry W Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave. S., in Minneapolis and a memorial service, 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 16 with a visitation one hour before at Hope Ev. Lutheran Church, 5728 Cedar Ave. in Minneapolis.
June Norblom (nee Mattson),
age 77, born June 27, 1941 in Ironwood, MI to Clarence & Helen Mattson, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, February 23, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jane. She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 55 years, Roger; children: Pam (Marc) Throne, Jeff (Sandy) and Paul (Tove); grandchildren: Kelly (Jocelyn), Mats, Nick, Jessica, Sanna, and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Maisie; sister, Shirley and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. June graduated in 1959 from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood and was a proud Yooper. She attended Swedish Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1962. She married Roger in 1963 and they raised a beautiful family together. June’s nursing career spanned 24 years at the VA Hospital specializing in kidney dialysis. She volunteered at many community organizations, especially Hope Lutheran Church. June loved her 19th Avenue neighbors old and new. She loved the water her entire life and spent time picking rocks at Lake Superior, water skiing at Lake Riley and welcoming all to her backyard pool. Most of all, she loved hosting guests at her family cabin in Nisswa, where she spent countless hours with family and friends. June will be remembered for her generous hospitality, contagious laugh, Finnish Sisu and welcoming personality to all she met. She will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held 4-7 PM, Friday, March 15 at Henry W Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave. S., in Minneapolis and a memorial service, 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 16 with a visitation one hour before at Hope Ev. Lutheran Church, 5728 Cedar Ave. in Minneapolis. The family wishes to thank the University of Minnesota Hospital staff, especially Unit 7-D oncology and nurse Keiana. Special thanks to nurse, Jennifer who is also her niece. Memorials preferred to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital.
