John W. Mortensen, 78, of Apple Valley, passed away Tuesday with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. He was born March 23, 1933 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to Arthur and Sylvia (nee Waage) Mortensen. John is survived by daughters Linda (Brian) Johnston and Karen (Lynn) Koenen, 5 grandchildren, Sarah, Kari, Mike, Lindsey, and Eric (Shiovan), and great-grandson Spencer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice in 2010. John served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force, piloting the F-100. He also carried a true love and kindness for his family, friends and other people. John will be forever treasured and missed. A gathering of Friends and Family is scheduled for 3:30-6:30 PM Thursday, February 16 at the Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Avenue (952) 432-2331 and 1 hour prior to 11:30 AM Memorial Services, Friday, February 17 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Road, Apple Valley.
