A Celebration Service will be at 1:00pm on Sat., December 12th, 2020 at Berean Baptist Church, 309 Co. Rd. 42 E., Burnsville, MN. Graveside service will be at 11:00am on Sat., December 19th, 2020 at Woodville Cemetery, East Entrance, Waseca, MN. Family and friends are welcome.
Manning, Gilbert Chester
Age 87, of Apple Valley, MN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 1st, 2020 at the Minneapolis VA Hospital/Hospice. Born on February 18th, 1933 in Las Animas, CO. His childhood was spent in Green River, WY and after graduation in 1951 he served in the United States Marine Corps until 1955. He attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, MN where he met Vivian Johnson and began their 50 years of marriage on July 1, 1962. They moved to Waseca in 1968 where he was a charter member of the Grace Baptist Church and was employed at Herter’s, Waseca Public Schools and Viracon, where he retired. After retirement he continued to stay busy with several part-time opportunities in Waseca. He was active at the Centennial House in Apple Valley, where he lived for the last 7 years. While there he was blessed to attend Augustana Open Circle adult day program, became a member of Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville and was able to attend faithfully because of their bus ministry. He had a “Gift of the Bible” and was faithful in daily devotions with the other residents where he lived. He will be deeply missed by staff, his Sunday school class, the church bus drivers and all his friends and family.
Gilbert is survived by his three children, Robin (Scott) Chumbley of Minneapolis, Andrew (Deb) Manning of North Mankato and Stacy Manning of Owatonna; eight grandchildren, David, Erika, Jordan and Dakota Gamradt, Nathaniel, Molly, Casandra Manning and Cora James; two great-grandsons, Benton and Caeson; sisters, Eleanor Waggener of Laramie, WY and Marion Sears of Boise, ID; many nieces and nephews.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; parents, John and Salina Manning; and brother, Donald.
