Hello to all of Gert's family- My childhood is wrapped up in memories of "Mrs. Martin". She and I had a special relationship as she had known me since birth. She stayed with me when my mom and dad were out of town and she always made her specialties for me--at least I thought they were her specialities as my mom wasn't much into cooking. I will always remember her vegetable beef soup with dumplings and rosettes at Christmas time. She was such a jolly and fearless woman who made the concept of "old" not old at all. She came to our house every monday and friday morning for over 30 years and would shout up "MOOORNING!" up the stairs to announce her presence. I learned alot from her-- she's the one who taught me how to iron and bake. She was a terrific woman. I am sorry that I didn't bring my kids to meet her.
