Shannon, Gerald B. “Jerry”

Age 89 of Minneapolis, born Dec. 12, 1923 in Minneapolis to Cyril and Thora Shannon, passed away April 30, 2013. Jerry served in the US Army During WWII, landing on and surviving the Invasion of Normandy, Omaha Beach. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron. Jerry will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Catherine “Taddy”; children: Jeffrey, Patrick (Betsy), Richard, Kevin (Nancy), Michael (Angie), Mary Kay Shannon (Joe); 6 grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lee (Dale) Carhill and Norita (Art) Johnson and many other family and friends. A memorial mass will be held at 10am, Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Church of St. Helena, 3204 E. 43rd St., Mpls. with a visitation one hour before the mass. Interment St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Blinded Veterans Association, www.BVA.org
