Black, Ethel J. (Weum)

Age 92 and long-time resident of Apple Valley, MN, passed away on September 8, 2022. Born August 5,1930 in Minneapolis, MN. Preceded in death by her husband, Wayne C. Black. Survived by her children, Bill (Jeanne) Black, Linda (Gary) Thorberg, James (Babsi) Black, and Susan Black; grandchildren, Sid, Erik (Jessica), Amber (John), Bryan (Virginia), Rita, Andrew, Daniel (Melissa), John (Samantha), Andrea, Joseph (Riley), and Ayla (Matt); great-grandchildren, Erik Jr., Evan, Taylor, Camron, Ian, Mason, Mitchell, Ryan, Thea, Hazel, Robert, Annika, Claire, Cami, and Jenna; sisters-in-law, Salley (James) Engel, Carole (Ralph) Erickson, Judy (Joe) Shepperd; many nieces and nephews. Ethel graduated Central High Mpls. In 1948. Ethel was raised by her maternal grandparents, Ethel & William Johnston of Mpls. At age 2 she started dancing, tap/ballet/acrobatics with the semi-professional dance troop “Hollywood Revue” until age 19. She performed at county fairs, social events of 5 state area and for Veterans of WWII. She was an artist of fashion design, had love of sewing, avid book reader; history/cultures. Dakota Cty Election Judge. Most of all her life was her family, always making each person included, feel special, with love and laughter. Memorial Service at 11am on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Avenue, Apple Valley, with visitation one hour prior. She will join her husband, Wayne, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
