Elsie Buffie (nee Schween)

age 93, of Minneapolis, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023. Elsie was born on October 16, 1929 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Elsie was a strong, independent woman who was an expert in finances and spent most of her career working in bookkeeping and payroll. Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Mary K. Schween; sisters, Mollie Ammend and Mary Schween. Elsie is survived by brother Larry Schween (Star); children, Richard D. (Diana), D. Scott (Sharon), Randall (partner Lila) and Lisa; grandchildren, Jennifer, Brian (Sara), Joshua (Anjelica), Tyler, Max, Karin and Kirsten; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Kallie and numerous godchildren. Elsie was an excellent baker, baking birthday cakes for all her coworkers and dozens of Christmas cookies every season. Elsie loved to attend the orchestra, listening to Christian music, gardening, canning, and making homemade sausage. Elsie’s Lutheran faith was very strong and important to her, and she spent her life contributing to charities. Visitation: Saturday, February 11, 9:30-10:30 am, Lakewood Cemetery Chapel (3600 Hennepin Ave S Mpls, 612-822-2171); service 10:30 am, interment 11:15 am. Followed by luncheon, 12:15 pm at Minnehaha Communion Lutheran Church (4100 37th Ave S Mpls). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sharing and Caring Hands or Second Harvest Food Shelves of Mpls.
