Doris Margaret Lombardo

Doris passed to her heavenly reward on Saturday, June 11,2022, at her Ormond Beach home with her daughter Linda and son-in-law John by her side.  Doris was born April 22, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the home of her parents Erick and Margaret Matson.  Following graduation from Roosevelt high school and completing a business program she was employed by several local businesses.  Doris was introduced to her future husband, Andrew Lombardo, on a blind date.  Doris and Andy were married in September  1947 and welcomed their daughter, Linda, into their lives in 1954.  Doris retired from a clerk typist position at the Minneapolis office of the USDA.  Following retirement, Doris and Andy moved to Ormond Beach, Florida to be near their daughter,  Linda Lombardo, DC.  Soon after settling, Doris and Andy volunteered for Meals on Wheels where they were happy to serve the elderly population for several years.  Doris enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, afternoon movies, and Wheel of Fortune.  She had a wonderful spirit and personality, and truly never met a stranger.  Survivors include her loving daughter, Dr. Linda (Lombardo) Goodrich, son-in-law John Goodrich, grandchildren—Andy (wife Kourtney), and Emily Goodrich, all of Ormond beach.  Other surviving family members include her nephew Glen Nygard (Cari), niece Janet Gould, and extended family and friends in Minnesota, Florida, and throughout the country.  Funeral service, 11:00 AM, Friday June 17, 2022 with a visitation one hour before at Henry W Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave. S., Minneapolis. Doris will be laid to rest with her husband at Sunset Cemetery in Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Meals on Wheels or Halifax Health Hospice.
