Dean R. Oberpriller

an intelligent, creative, strong & impressive man was stilled by stroke. Born Aug. 20, 1949. Died June 5, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Frank & Sarah Oberpriller and brother, Gary. Dean graduated with honors from DeLaSalle Highschool, later serving on Board of Trustees for 15 years, member of emeritus and DeLaSalle’s Hall of Fame. He also graduated with honors from U of MN School of Journalism and worked for various advertising agencies in Mpls. before starting his own with his brother, Dann, in 1980 as RK&O, then DK&O and eventually DBK&O. In the 90’s Dean & Dan formed Access Partners and Didd & Dunn. They both moved to Las Vegas in 2013 where they served as Altar Servers and Eucharistic Ministers at Guardian Angel Cathedral before moving back to Mpls in 2015. More recently Dean was enmeshed in several book projects and recorded radio programs. Dean is survived by twin, Daniel; sister, Evonne (Ed) Johnston; brother, Lon (Nancy) Oberpriller; sister-in-law, Ginny (Gary) Oberpriller; son, Ryan (Lynn) Oberpriller; daughter, Lora Oberpriller; grandchildren, Ashley, Connor, Alexander (Ryan) and Elli (Lora); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial service 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 14, 2016 with visitation one hour prior at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave. So., Mpls. Private Mass will be held at a later date with interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Almena WI. Memorials preferred to Daniel D. Oberpriller, c/o DRO Charities, 2919 Knox Ave. So. Suite #200, Mpls., MN 55408. Esquire Magazine labeled Dean as one of the “warbling, bickering twin brothers” in a Sept. 30, 2006 article on “The Best Bar in America” (Nye’s Polonaise). They’ll bicker no more.
