Metcalf, Cindy Sue
On July 3, 2022, Cindy Sue Metcalf, age 74, of Rosemount, MN, joined the Lord and her lifelong love Jack, who she has longed to return to since his passing. Cindy is now at peace by Jack’s side, and Jack by hers, as it always should and will be.
Born August 7, 1947, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Cindy was the first child of Lloyd and Shirley Clark. Cindy would soon be joined by four other siblings, Gary, Lonnie, Becky, and Patti. The mischief the young Clark children caused is the source of many great stories. Cindy was active in the church in her youth, which is where she fell in love with Jack. While it is unclear what traits brought the two together, Cindy’s wry sense of humor was likely one. She was never afraid to make fun of herself or anyone within earshot. Throughout her life, Cindy was an avid reader, amassing an impressive collection of Stephen King novels.
Cindy’s greatest gift was her selfless generosity. It is why she was a personal care attendant for over 30 years, caring for paralyzed patients at the Courage Center in Golden Valley and later by serving paralyzed patients in their homes. And whenever a family member needed help, Cindy answered the call without hesitation. Whether that was to rush to the emergency room to comfort an injured grandchild or to provide emergency childcare, she was only a phone call away. Much to the delight of her grandchildren, and the dismay of their parents, “Nana” would smuggle baked treats and candy to every babysitting session. Nana was also a champion snuggler. That might be when she was most content – with her young grandchildren snuggled in her lap watching a movie. She adored her little “sweetnesses.”
The world is lesser without Cindy in it. There is less compassion; less generosity; less humor. Her family and friends’ hearts are deeply bruised by her passing. We will forever miss you, Momma, Sister, and Nana.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Beth (Todd) Collett; sons, Jack Jr. and Jeffrey (Rachel); grandchildren, Alexander, Zachary, Olivia, Naomi, and Liliana; great-grandchildren, Annie and Allie; brother, Lonnie (Crystal) Clark; sister, Patti Gessell; brother-in-law, Timothy Hatle; sister-in-law, Cindy (Larry) Jamieson; and many other dear family members and friends.
Funeral service at 11am on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley, with visitation one-hour prior. Interment following the service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
