Cecilia Marie Van Grinsven (nee Wilson)
Born on October 6, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to Eugene and Gladys Wilson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on September 2nd at the Ebenezer’s Ridges home in Burnsville, MN.
Cecilia and Anthony Theodore Van Grinsven, Sr. were united in marriage on June 10, 1952 in Mille Lacs, MN.
Cecilia made her six children her priority during her years of raising them in Burnsville, MN. Once their children were raised, Ceil enjoyed working outside of the home as an administrative assistant, librarian assistant and was a part owner of the family’s travel agency business. Ceil enjoyed her travels both domestically and internationally while making friendships and seeing the sights she loved.
After retirement Ceil and Tony moved to their log cabin home in Richmond, MN where she enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating, card playing, reading and spending time with her family and friends around the campfire.
Ceil’s spunkiness and saying what was on her mind has given us years of giggles and smiles. We have many wonderful memories to carry on her legacy and to pass onto future generations.
Cecilia is survived by her five children: Jeanne Otremba, Anthony, Jr. (Kris), Patty (Juan) Martinez, Joanne (Bob) Wiseman and Delores Van Grinsven; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and her sister, Patricia (Harry) Thielen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Sr.; son, Michael; daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Bob Otremba.
Mass of Christian Burial, 9:30 AM, Friday, Sep.11, 2020 at the Church of St. John Neumann, 4030 Pilot Knob Rd., Eagan. Interment, Gethsemane Cemetery, New Hope, MN.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
