Carol M. Johnson

Funeral services for Carol M. Johnson, 88, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 13801 Fairview Drive, Burnsville, Minnesota, with Pastor Gloria Swanson officiating at the service. The celebration of Carol’s life reflected her faith, Norwegian heritage, and Christmas birthday. Burial will be at a later time in Cambridge, Wisconsin.

Carol Minerva Johnson was born December 25, 1922, in Cambridge, Wisconsin, to John and Minerva (Ellickson) Egre. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1940. After high school she took a business course and then worked in the officeof Wisconsin Power & Light in Cambridge. She married Sidney V. Johnson on June 28, 1947, at First East Koshkonong Lutheran Church in rural Cambridge. The couple lived in Colo, IA, Mankato, MN, and in1956 moved to Springfield, MN. In previous years she enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, church activities at St. John’s, pie-making, and keeping a spotless home. Carol moved to an assisted living facility in June, 2009, to be near her daughter. While living in Burnsville, Carol liked to go on outings to concerts, parks, and retail stores, and hikes around the lake behind her apartment building. She joined Prince of Peace shortly after moving to Burnsville and was involved in Bible studies and other activities at Augustana Regent.

Carol died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, December 6, 2011, at Augustana Regent in the presence of caring staff and her daughter. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Johnson of Eagan; 3 sons, Chuck and wife Debbie, of Sherburn, MN and their children Scott and Sara; David of Anchorage, AK, and children Joe, Mike and Anne; Rich of Albuquerque, NM, and daughter Olivia; two great-grandchildren, Sterling and Madeline; a brother and two sisters in Cambridge, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney; parents; two sisters; and an infant daughter, Barbara Ann. Most of all, she loved and cared for her family.
