Bruce A. Rardin
Age 89 of South Minneapolis, born September 6, 1925 in Minneapolis to Elroy & Mabel Rardin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, December 27, 2014.

Bruce attended Roosevelt High School 1940 – 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy July 1943 and served in the Pacific area for two years. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Bruce was recalled to active duty during the Korean War in April 1951 for 16 months and honorably discharged in 1952. Bruce graduated from MacPhail College in 1953 with a B.M. in Music Education and a B.M. in Performance – French Horn, and in 1956 joined the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, now known as the Minnesota Orchestra, retiring in 1990 after 34 years. He taught French Horn through MacPhail College, the University of Minnesota, St. Thomas, Mankato State and in his home studio. He performed at Lake Harriet Pops from 1950 to 1960, New York Traveling Shows at the Lyceum Theater, St. Paul Civic Orchestra, Minneapolis Civic Orchestra – charter member – under conductor Henry Denecke, St. Paul Pops and the St. Paul Opera in the 1950s, an extra for the Minneapolis Symphony in 1948 – 1950 and in 1953 under Conductors Mitropoulos and Dorati. Bruce had many passions and hobbies and collections in his lifetime. He was a watch/clock repairman and could fix ANYTHING.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald. Bruce will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Louise (nee Klug); sons, Brian (Bonnie), Brad (Kathy), daughter, Luann (Jonathan) Jones; granddaughters: Lily, Isabella, Maria, Ellie, Kim, Brittany and Raelyn; nephew, Greg (Susan) and many other family and friends.

Visitation, 4-8pm, Friday, January 2, 2015 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave. S., Minneapolis and also one hour before the service at church on Saturday. Funeral service 11:00am, Saturday, January 3, 2015, with visitation one hour before at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3430 E. 51st St., Minneapolis. Bruce will be laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or the family. A special thank you to the caregivers from Allina.
