Ferrin, Betty Lou

Age 84 of Apple Valley, passed away on Feb. 25, 2022. Betty was born to Julius and Anna (Pangrel) Strand on March 6, 1937. She was the shoe box baby, weighing not quite two pounds at nineteen days old. A twin whose sister died shortly after birth. Betty’s mother died five days after birth, and she was then adopted by Eric and Helen Nordin. Three years after her adoption her father remarried to her step-mother, Amy Strand, and a step-brother was born. Her adoptive parents, Eric and Helen, gave her a good home and she inherited two sisters, Eleanor and Ansel, and two brothers, Douglas and Emmette. Betty was the youngest in both families. She grew up in South Mpls. Betty graduated from Minnehaha Academy and had some college. She worked as a nursing assistant for seven years at Martin Luther Manner in Bloomington and was a teacher for over twenty years, serving four daycares, children, and their families. Betty loved her husband, and her family was her top priority. She did her best to be a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all the children. Betty loved music, reading, and baking. She tried to give people a hand in times of need. Always a prayer in her heart for her family and friends. Preceded by her husband, Lloyd; sons, Sean and Tim; parents, brothers, and sisters. Survived by her children, Keith (Esmeralda) and Ruth; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, John (Martha); sister, Marjorie; daughter-in-law, Renee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral at 11am on Tues., March 8, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church, 7800 150th St. W., Apple Valley, with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
