Belva Marlene Scarbrough
Age 81. Went home to the Lord on September 17, 2015 surround by family. Preceded in death by husband, George; parents, Julius and Delia Olson. Survived by children, Julie (Robert) Andersen, Jonathan (Marian), Jayne, and Jolene (Jerry) Yoho; grandchildren, Rebecca (Matt) Nettekoven, Nathaniel (Lisa) Andersen, Jason (Ami) Andersen, Jeremiah (Allison) Andersen, Anna (Ryan) Substad, Lauren Scarbrough, Emma, Sarah, and Jacob Yoho; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Janet Lokken and Julius G. Olson; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Belva grew up on a farm in Cottonwood County, MN. She studied piano from a young age and graduated with a degree in Music and English from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD where she later met her husband. After teaching in CA, SD, and MN she raised her family and settled in the Northwestern Suburbs. Belva worked for Carlson Companies for 11 years before retiring. Some of Belva’s creative talents include Oriental rug making and quilting. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially her last trip to Norway. Belva was an active member at church including volunteering with meals on wheels, clothing distribution, Bible studies and the women’s group. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral service 11 AM, Tuesday, Sept. 22nd, at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Belva Scarbrough to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Lupus Foundation.
