Barbara Lynn Nestingen, born September 4, 1952, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, October 20, 2019. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Mary Stay. Barb is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mark Randolph Nestingen; father Kenneth Stay; her children Brian Nestingen and wife Stephanie, Laura Elmore and husband AJ; grandchildren Braden, Bryson, Beckett, Cohen, and John; and her brother and sisters Kevin (Beth) Stay, Cheryl (Jerry) Dougherty, and Kim Stephenson.

Barbara was raised in Blair, Wisconsin and was the oldest of four children. She learned her strong work ethic by working on the family farm. She graduated summa cum laude from University of Wisconsin-Stout where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She married the love of her life, Mark, in 1974 . Barbara went on to teach in the Elementary School setting as well as in local Vocational and Technical colleges, led Early Family Childhood education courses, and opened her home to a child daycare facility for years. She founded her own company and created curriculum for daycare centers, called The Little Country School. Barb later moved on to lead a successful career in Real Estate.

Barbara enjoyed traveling with friends and family and took several trips every year.Barbara was an active member in the community, Church and volunteered much of her time to others. She loved all of her grandchildren deeply, and spending time with them brought her endless amounts of joy. She will be remembered for her great love for her family and her continuous efforts to serve others.

Visitation, 5-7 PM, Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Garrett Ave., Apple Valley.  Funeral service 10:00 AM, Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd., Apple Valley with a visitation one hour before.  Barbara will be buried next to her mother, in her hometown, outside the Church her and Mark were married in Tremplealeau Valley Cemetery, Taylor, WI at 3:30 PM, October 24, 2019 with a lunch to follow.
