Grecco, Anna Marie

Age 61 of Lakeville, MN, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2024. Preceded in death by her father, Leonard. Survived by her mother, Martha; brothers, Joseph (Sharon), Leonard (Susan), Robert (Claudette), John (Debi), and Edward (Erica); 13 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Anna Marie had a kind and generous soul coupled with a very competitive spirit.  Her strength, selflessness and courage are an inspiration to all who knew her.

In her younger years, Anna Marie excelled at baseball, volleyball and softball; being a four-year letter winner and two-year Captain at Saint Joseph’s High School in South Bend, Indiana.

Upon graduation, she relocated to Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  While there, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.  In addition, she earned a Master of Software Design and Development from the University of St. Thomas.

In 1985, Anna Marie began her career at Sperry Corporation in Roseville, MN.  She later transitioned to Texcel Research, Inc. and then to West Publishing; which was subsequently acquired by Thomson Reuters.  She retired in 2018 as a Vice-President.  While there, she was very proud to be a committee member of the National Center for Women and Information Technology.  Her work with that committee continued after her retirement until this past year.

An avid golfer, she was a member of the Highland Ladies Tee League “Divot Diva Team” for 31 years.  In addition, she was a member of the Valley Wood Golf League in addition to participating in various tournaments over the years.  As mentioned, she was a very competitive player at all times.

Anna Marie was a founding member of the “Fun in the Sun Group” for 15 years; organizing their annual trip to Florida that combined golf with excursions… each year playing different courses and seeing different sights.  She was described by her friends as the “glue” that held the ‘tribe’ together.

In addition to her enjoyment of playing cards and board games at home, she was active at the Lakeville Heritage Center participating in walking, golf, pickleball, bocce and mahjong groups.

She balanced her active life over the past 15 years with an expanded friendship with her mother, being companion / caretaker since the passing of her father.  They enjoyed travelling to many places with most including stops at local casinos.

A lifelong Catholic, Anna Marie practiced her faith without fanfare through the generosity and selflessness of her time and treasures, setting an inspiring example for her family and friends.
