Alan W., age 73, of Prior Lake, died December 29, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. from complications following heart surgery.
He is survived by his spouse of 53 years, Judith Meltz Leipnitz; sons, Mark (Shanna) Leipnitz, Andrew (Blanca) Leipnitz, and Matthew (Darcie) Leipnitz; grandchildren, Maxwell, Laura, John, Heather, Parker, Sarah and Noah Leipnitz; sister, Alyce (Robert) Sedore; brother, Aleron (Carol) Leipnitz, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Alan graduated from the University of Minnesota in l962, with a degree in chemistry, and worked for Ecolab as Director of International Research and Development. For the last 21 years he has been the owner of South Cedar Greenhouses in Farmington, MN. Alan met his wife, Judy, in kindergarten in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Two years after graduating together from Eau Claire High School, they were married in l959. They went on to raise three sons, embrace three daughters-in-law, and enthusiastically welcome seven grandchildren. Al was an avid Twins fan. He loved reading, traveling, hunting, fishing, playing cards, solving Sudoku, following the grandchildren’s activities, going to his deer cabin, watching the lake and “counting the waves.” Please join us in a celebration of Al’s life. The family will receive guests for a time of visitation on Saturday, January 5, from 2 – 5 PM, at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, in Apple Valley. A memorial service will be at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, in Burnsville, on Sunday, January 6, at 2 PM, with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church. Lunch will follow the service. Memorials preferred to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or to donor’s choice.
