Debra Lynn Lawrey

With grief and hope we announce the passing of Debra Lynn Lawrey, age 67. She passed away of natural causes in her home, and entered heaven on February 25, 2022.

Debi was born on October 16, 1954 in Saint Louis Park, to beloved parents Paul Devere and Orlynn Mae Anderson. On July 1, 1979 she married her best friend and love of her life Phillip John Lawrey. Together they raised John Paul, Kathryn Lynn, and Allyson Anne, who count their parents as their best friends.

Debi had a heart full of love and light, and her family had the privilege of basking in her sunshine. She had the heart of a giver, and as a devoted wife, mother, and grandma, she was always ready with a book recommendation for her kids, crafts to do with the grandkids, and delicious meals (on beautifully set tables!) for family gatherings. She brought a lot of joy to the everyday, and her thoughtfulness and special little touches will be sorely missed.

Debi’s giving heart also extended beyond her family to the third-graders she taught for over 30 years in District 196. Fueled by her innate love of learning and natural wonder, she gave her all to her students, inspiring many former students to become teachers themselves.

Debi put her hope in Jesus Christ, and lived the Gospel every day through her endless patience and compassionate heart. She often spoke about how, as a child, she felt “God’s sunshine on her”, and that love and sunshine poured out of her in her love and service big and small.

You are welcome to celebrate her life with us at a visitation 4-6 PM, Friday, March 4th 2022, at Henry W Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave, Apple Valley, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 5th, 2022 with another visitation one hour before, at the funeral home.

Debra will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
