Catharina W. Jacobse

Age 96 of Burnsville, born November 21, 1925 in Medan, Indonesia to Nanne & Elisabeth Boersma, passed away peacefully May 15, 2022.

Catharina (“Tine”) was born in Indonesia and moved as a young child to the Netherlands, where she was raised. Tine was a teenager in the Netherlands during WWII and worked for the Dutch resistance. Following the war, Tine met and married her husband Teunis and had their first four children in Scheveningen, Netherlands. In 1957, Tine, her husband and four children emigrated to the United States, settling in Eden Prairie, MN, where Tine raised their seven children. At the time of their emigration, Tine did not speak any English but quickly learned the language and ensured her oldest four children learned English as well. Later in life, Tine discovered her artistic side, and was beloved by friends and family for her beautiful hand-made greeting cards.  She also enjoyed knitting with fine thread and beads, creating beaded coin purses, and winning a blue ribbon at the Minnesota State Fair for a knit beaded eyeglass case. Tine dearly loved her mother, returning to visit her mother in Holland every year until her mother’s death.  Tine also dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed hearing the laughter and conversations between the generations. Tine always kept an extremely optimistic attitude no matter what life gave her. The family wishes to thank the many friends to Tine over the years, and the caregivers who cared for Tine in the last five years of her life. Her optimistic outlook led her to be elected Valentine’s Queen at her nursing home. She won in a landslide.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Teunis; daughter and son-in-law, Hendrina (Dawson) Deuermeyer and granddaughter, Kristine Deuermeyer.

Catharina will be dearly missed by her children: Hans (Sue), Els (Rick Woods), JanBert, Helen (Greg Nelson), Andrew and Saskia Jacobse; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the family.

Funeral service, 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 18, 2022 with a visitation one hour before at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Avenue in Apple Valley.  Catharina will be laid to rest with her husband and other family at Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
