Alice M. Peterson (Sethney), age 102 of Minneapolis, born April 8, 1906, in Barrett, MN to John and Ida Sethney, passed away February 28, 2009. Alice was the oldest and last surviving of six children. She was raised on a farm near Hoffman and in 1934, moved to Fergus Falls. On August 26, 1944, Alice married Emil Peterson. Alice worked for several families in the twin cities area. The children of these families remained very close to Alice and thought of her as “their aunt.” She sang first soprano for the Minneapolis Symphony Choir, and was active in her church quilting group. She enjoyed music, theater, opera, sewing, cooking, hosting dinner parties with friends and traveling with her niece and other close friends. Alice was a member of the Sons of Norway and traveled to Norway twice where she connected with cousins whom she kept in close contact. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Emil. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Woodlake Lutheran Church, 7525 Oliver, Richfield. Memorials may be made to the church. |
