Edmund Allen Tio Age 97 of Rosemount. Born Nov. 16, 1926 in Spring Valley, WI to Marcus & Alice. Ed and his family moved in 1934 to his grandfather’s farm due to flooding of the Eau Galle River that destroyed the home Ed and his siblings were born in. In 1936, they moved again to Gilman WI to a 150-acre farmstead. Ed graduated from Gilman High School in 1944 and enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 that same year. He attended Great Lakes Boot Camp, then transferred to Port Hueneme where he was assigned to the Naval Construction Battalion (NCB) 106 Section 1. On March 9, 1945, USS Clearfield departed for Pearl Harbor to Eniwetok to Ulithi and arrived off Okinawa on April 17, 1945. He landed on Ie Shima on April 20, 1945. NCB 106 was disbanded on November 28, 1945. He was transferred to NCB 58 and ended his service on June 11, 1946. He worked various jobs hauling milk containers, gravel and assembly line work at Webster’s Candy Factory around the Gilman/Eau Claire/Chippawa Falls area for the next two Ed is preceded in death by siblings: Clarence (Alice), Charles (Carol) and Roselia (John) Bennett; and former wife, JoAnn. Ed is survived by children: John (Teresa), Ted (Becky) and Fred; grandchildren: Angela, Brandon, Sara, Kevin, Julia, Spencer and Courtney.
