Thomas J. Brown, 81, of Apple Valley and formerly of Bloomington, passed unexpectedly as a result of a stroke on June 10. He was born April 23, 1933 in Madison Lake, Minnesota to Frank H. and Elizabeth C. (nee Nicholson) Brown. Tom graduated from Loyola High School, Mankato in 1951, and attended the University of Minnesota. He served his country in the United States Army, where he met and married his wife Birgit “Bibbi” while stationed in Germany. Tom owned the Village Square Barber Shop near the Met Stadium where he treasured his customers. He was an active 4-H member, hosted Foreign Exchange students, and loved to fish, golf, dance, garden, and travel, living in Florida for 10 years after retirement. But most of all, Tom loved his wife and family. His love and naturally happy disposition will be forever loved and treasured. Tom is survived by his daughters Linda (Gary) Nelson, Lisa (Randall) Peterson, Lora (Ashley) Dean, and Lona (James) Brim, son Tom, grandchildren Tiffany Nelson, Kayla, Ali, and Austin Peterson, Bryce Nelson, and Marcus Brim, step-grandson Justin Brim, brothers Dr. Frank (Alice) and John Brown, sister Gertrude Suel, and companion Princess. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Bibbi in 2012 and one sister, Betty. Memorial Mass is scheduled for 11 AM Friday, June 13 at Mary Mother of the Church, 3333 East Cliff Road, Burnsville, with a Gathering of Family and Friends starting at 10 AM. Memorials are preferred.
