Rev. Donald W. Lau born in Ashton, SD on May 28, 1920, passed away Aug. 31, 2017. Preceded in death by wife, Lucille and son, Joel. In his early youth he moved with his parents to Blue Earth, MN. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1938. In the fall of 1939 he enrolled at Bethany College in Mankato. He continued his education at Northwestern College, Watertown, WI and graduated from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Thiensville, WI in Dec., 1945. After graduation he accepted the call to the St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church in Amboy, MN. He was united with Lucille Oestreich on Feb. 3, 1946. On Feb. 10, 1946, he was ordained and installed as a resident Pastor in Amboy. He accepted a call to Faith Ev. Lutheran Church in Mpls., and was installed on June 19, 1949 in the Nokomis Junior High School. In July construction began on the first unit of the present church building. Donald retired from Faith Ev. Lutheran Church on Aug. 12, 1984. In the past he has served the MN South District as Chairman of the Constitution Committee, Circuit Counselor, Circuit Youth Counselor and L.W.M.L. Circuit Counselor. He has supported Mpls. Lutheran High School and served on the board. For years he was a member of the Southtown Exchange Club, a service organization. Donald is survived by sons, Steve (Tammy), Phil (Sue) and Dave; grandsons, Matthew and Dylan. Funeral service will be held 10 am, Tues., Sept. 12, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3430 E. 51st St., Mpls. Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Mon., Sept. 11, at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave S. Mpls., and one hour prior at church. Interment Riverside Cemetery.
