Bakke, Phyllis E., of Mendota Heights, formerly of Minneapolis, born May 11, 1926 in Mpls. to John & Hilma (Hinschien) Erickson, passed away July 16, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Bakke. Phyllis is survived by brother-in-law, Orville Bakke; distant cousins and many dear friends. Phyllis was a life member of the American Swedish Institute, Gammelgarden Museum and a founding member of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce of Minneapolis. Phyllis worked for the Swedish Consulate in Minneapolis for 50 years, ending as Honorary Consul. She received The Royal Order of the Polar Star from HRH King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden in 1995. Visitation 4-7 PM, Sunday, July 21, at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave. So., Minneapolis and also 1 hour before the service Monday at church. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, July 22, 2013 at Minnehaha Communion Lutheran Church, 4101 37th Ave. S., Mpls.
