Neil R. Hoagland

Beloved brother, uncle and friend, died peacefully on November 10, 2024, in Bloomington, Minnesota, at the age of 94. Neil was born on June 3, 1930, and raised in Birchwood, Wisconsin. He moved to Minneapolis to attend the University of Minnesota, where he graduated with honors, and served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Neil devoted his entire professional career to Control Data Corporation, where he negotiated contracts for the use of CDC’s super computers.

Neil loved cars, motorcycles, bicycles, the Vikings, Gophers and Twins. He traveled widely, often on a big touring motorcycle or in one of his Chevrolet Super Sports. Neil cherished his membership and his friends in Chevy’s Best Car Club of the Twin Cities.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha Hoagland, and his sister, Maxine Johnson. He is survived by brothers Gerald (Marilyn), Donald, and Eugene (Lillie), along with many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to staff and caregivers at the Wealshire Care Center of Bloomington, MN, who treated Neil with kindness, compassion, humor and respect.

Funeral service at 11 AM on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Avenue, Apple Valley, Minnesota. Visitation one hour prior to service, with luncheon to follow. Neil will be laid to rest at Lebanon Cemetery in Apple Valley.
