79, of Minneapolis passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016. She was born in Minneapolis September 13, 1937. Mary graduated from Holy Angels High School and attended St. Catherines College. She married James (Larry) Hughes in 1957. After 3 years in the Air Force, they moved to Bloomington and raised their 5 children. Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed decorating, going dancing, watching classic movies, spending summers at Lake Hubert, and traveling to the East Coast to visit her daughter Theresa and grand daughters. Mary was an avid fan of all Minnesota sport teams and had a fun loving spirit and loved to laugh. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Lorraine McCann, sons James F. Hughes and Michael J. Hughes. She is survived by sister Jayne Gregg-John, nieces, Elisa and Alyson children, Theresa Layton-James, Timothy Hughes, and John Hughes-Veronica, daughter in law Jeri Hughes, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on January 3rd at 5:00 pm with visitation at 4:00 pm at the Henry W. Anderson Mortuary Apple Valley Chapel at 14850 Garrett Avenue. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary’s memory can be made to Alzeimers research.
