Mary Ellen (Sowl) Siegmund of Henderson, NV, passed away on Aug 4, 2012. She was born May 10, 1944, in Three Rivers, MI. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Gertrude. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her daughter, Shelly (Matt) Ellis; grandson, Michael; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mary was raised in Beloit, WI, with the help of her beloved grandparents, Fred and Mary Underhill. She graduated from Macalester College in MN and taught English after her marriage in 1966. Mary and Mike raised their daughter in Burnsville, MN, in a thriving neighborhood of other young families and developed many long-lasting friendships. Mary stayed involved in her family’s lives, becoming a Girl Scout Leader, volunteering at school and watching sports games on a weekly basis. Mary had a life-long passion for crafts and sewing and blessed her family and friends with the gifts of her labor. She was an avid card player, playing duplicate bridge with Mike and was a member of many local women’s card groups. Mary will be remembered for her strong faith, courage, wit, creativity, generosity, and intelligence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Friday, August 10 at Mary Mother of the Church, 3333 East Cliff Road, Burnsville, with Visitation 1 hour prior. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memorial Gardens, Burnsville. An additional Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Sun City McDonald Ranch in Henderson at a later date.
