Koepsell, Martha, born in Rockford, IL, on Oct. 7, 1956. She died tragically from a fall while helping in the construction of her new home, Wed. Nov. 15, 2006 at the age of 50. She attended Luther College and received her Bachelor’s degree from George Washington University. She worked as a medical technologist at HCMC and then in her mid 30s attended the U of MN where she received an engineering degree. She worked for HB Fuller as a chemical engineer for about 7 years. For health reasons, she retired early and began a career as a loving volunteer care giver, making quilts, prayer shawls and other warm things for those she loved, which was pretty much anyone she came across. Especially those celebrating a good thing or suffering a bad thing, anyone who could benefit from the warmth of her handiwork. As part of her caring work, she led the Community Caring Committee at Lutheran Church of Christ the Redeemer (LCCR). The number of people who have benefited from her loving warmth cannot be counted. Marty was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Hawkinson. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Engstrom; parents, Sally & John Koepsell; sister, Jean Stilwell (Steven); brothers, Jim and Steve Koepsell; stepchildren: Erik Engstrom (Joanna) and grandchildren, Henry and Oliver; Heidi Wilson (Erik);and Gretchen Engstrom; as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial service Monday, Nov. 20th at 2:00 PM at Lutheran Church of Christ the Redeemer, 5440 Penn Ave. S., Mpls. Visitation will take place an hour before the service.
