Moore, Lucille D. (née Koolmo)

Age 81 of Apple Valley, was reunited with her heavenly family on May 1, 2022.

Lucille, who later in life was called Lucy, was born on the family farm in Dunn Co., WI along with her twin brother Larry to Ole and Esther Koolmo.  She was a middle child in a family that had 15 children. Lucy had many memories of growing up with so many siblings.  She attended the Clack School, a one-room schoolhouse, and then Boyceville HS. After graduating from high school, Lucy moved to the Twin Cities and got a job at Honeywell. While at Honeywell she met her future husband, Jim Moore. In 1962 they got married in Minneapolis and had two daughters, Catherine and Deborah. The young family spent time in Minneapolis and Pennsylvania before settling in South Minneapolis with a surprise third daughter, Anna, coming along when the girls were teenagers. Jim and Lucy parted ways after her birth, but cooperated with one another to support their three daughters. Lucy later moved to Richfield, MN where she became a dedicated member of Woodlake Lutheran Church and faithfully attended services each Sunday.

After Honeywell, Lucy worked for Control Data (which later became Ceridian Corporation) for most of her adult life. Just before retiring, Lucy moved to Apple Valley where she joined Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. While she spent some of her retirement time working at the Apple Valley Walmart, she also could be found volunteering with Prince of Peace’s Mission Outpost food shelf and their yearly garage sales. She also humbly served as a lay minister.

While her church and volunteer activities were a big part of her life, her true joy was found in being a grandma to her 7 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. She could be found doing crafts with them, reading them stories, and playing with them. Her grandchildren affectionately referred to her as Grandma, Mema, Mooma, and/or Mooma Percy. She was incredibly proud of her daughters and grandchildren and the people they have become and are still becoming.

Lucy was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s several years ago. Although she sometimes struggled to remember who everyone was in her large family, she still radiated love and pride. Her family was always the most important thing in her life, followed by her love of Jesus. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed by many.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Ecumen Centennial House in Apple Valley and Bluestone Physicians Group for their compassionate care and the guidance that they provided for Lucy and her daughters over the past several years. The family would also like to thank the amazing staff at Fairview Southdale’s ICU for the care they provided to Lucy in her last few days.

She has been made whole again and is now reveling in paradise with the family members who preceded her as well her Lord and Savior. Lucy is preceded in death by…

Preceded in death by her siblings, Constance, David, twin brother Larry, Jerome, Clarice, Phyllis, Merlin, John, Norma, Shirley, and Eileen.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy (Kevin) Shipp, Deb (Steve) Krick, and Anna (Joe) Raway; grandchildren, Camille (Martin), Calvin, Sam, Jenny (Dan), Colin, Colton, Kaden, Tate, and Bennett; sisters, Jeanette, Marvel, and Karen (Barry); sisters-in-law, Virginia and Margaret; brother-in-law, Larry; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial Service at 11am on Sat., June 11, 2022, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 13801 Fairview Dr., Burnsville, with visitation one hour prior. As Lucy was an avid gardener and wouldn’t want her memorial to be a somber occasion, the family is requesting that you dress as if attending a celebration in florals or happy colors. She is in God’s garden now. Private family interment at Tramway Cemetery in Menominee, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://act.alz.org/site/Donation).
