Loreen Ruth Madson

of Apple Valley, MN passed away March 15, 2017, at the young age of 73.  Celebration of Life Service will be held April 22, 2017, at the Henry W. Anderson Mortuary in Apple Valley, MN with Pastor David Solberg officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and Memorial Service at 11:00 am.  Loreen was born June 28, 1943, in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Laurel and Iva Kunkel.  She met the love of her life, Reggie Madson, and was married on April 2, 1966 and spent 51 great years together.  In their retirement, they enjoyed traveling to Mexico and met many new friends.  Loreen retired from the V.A. Medical Center in Minneapolis with over 20 years of service as a Registered Nurse.  She loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren at the lake, enjoyed fishing, planting flowers, and gardening.  Loreen also loved animals and spoiling her pets.  Loreen is survived by her loving husband, Reggie; sons, David (Christina) Madson of St. Bonifacius, MN, Dale Madson of Burnsville, MN, and Danny (Stacy) Madson of Springfield, MO; brothers, Robert (Linda) Kunkel and Kenneth (Kendra) Kunkel of Dubuque, IA; sister, Judith (John) Russell of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Megan, Mason, Nathan, Kyra, and Gavin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She will be missed by all, especially her niece, Lori Slattery of Dubuque, IA who was her special shopping partner and chauffer.  Loreen made friends everywhere she traveled and will be sorely missed by her dear friend, Gerlinde DeBorba-Smith of Sunnyvale, CA.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Michael, Donald, and David, all of Dubuque, IA, and infant grandson, Justin of Alexandria, MN.  The family thanks the staff and nurses of United Hospital for their wonderful care of Loreen.  Memorials are preferred to the Last Hope Companion Pet Rescue of Farmington, MN or Lakes Area Humane Society of Alexandria, MN.
