Joseph C. Schneider was born second of three children of Joseph and Margareth Schneider, November 18, 1914 in St. Cloud, MN. Joe was placed in a Catholic orphanage in Little Falls at age three, at the time of his mother??(TM)s death. From age 10-16 he lived with Pauline and Paul Kampa in Duelm, later Foley.
During the Great Depression Joe served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in northern Wisconsin. He was drafted into the US Army in February 1941 and served until 1967, retiring as master sergeant. He then worked for the ROTC, University of Minnesota, through 1979, after which Joe took on full time his true calling of fishing, hunting and storytelling.
Joe was a dedicated member of Wold Chamberlain, American Legion Post No. 99.
Joe married his wife of 60 years, Ruth Steffen of Slades Corners, WI, February 9, 1946. Ruth and Joe raised four children in Minneapolis: Sharon, Stan, Bill and Marj.
Joe is survived by his wife, four children, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Thanks to the 4th floor nursing staff of Abbott Hospital, the staff of Allina Hospice, and the nurses aids of LivHome. Your care and concern made Joe??(TM)s final weeks better ones.
