Joseph C. Ordos
Age 84 of Minneapolis, born August 3, 1940 in Minneapolis to Joseph and Florence Ordos, passed away September 26, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Marcia Ordos.
Joseph will be dearly missed by his daughter, Marie Ordos; grandson, Nathaniel; granddaughter, Scarlett; siblings, David and Terryl (Chuck) Mosher and partner of 30 years, Mark Lethert; nieces, Jenny and Carrie and nephew, Joe.
Joe was a graduate of Rosevelt High School and the University of Minnesota where he earned a master’s degree in education. He taught art at Stillwater and Mounds View High Schools and then taught jewelry design at the U of M/St. Paul campus for 18 years, taking student groups a number of times to Europe and Africa. After leaving the U he started a business designing children’s playhouses. Eventually he found a second calling to earn another master’s degree and become a Special Ed teacher, a career which spanned several years at various area high schools. Before retirement, due to the pandemic, he spent some years teaching art to adults with special needs. Joe kept in contact with many students and colleagues who have remained close friends. An experienced gardener, Joe greatly enjoyed overseas travel, loved design, folk and applied arts, and movies, especially musicals. But most of all he enjoyed the company of his grandchildren.
Visitation, 4-6 pm, Monday, Oct. 7th at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave. Apple Valley, and one hour before the service at church. Funeral service, 11:00 am, Tuesday, Oct. 8 2024 with a visitation one hour before at Grace Episcopal Church, 4557 Colfax Ave. S. in Minneapolis. Joseph will be laid to rest at Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
