JaNette Flogstad
passed away on Oct. 3. She was born in St. James, MN on March 12, 1929. She attended a one room school for grades 1-8, then attended and graduated from St. James High School in 1946. After choosing a teaching career, she received her education from Martin Luther School in New Ulm, MN, and Mankato State Teacher’s College. JaNette taught grades 1-8 in a country one room schoolhouse for nearly five years.
In 1948, JaNette married Lloyd Flogstad. After farming, they moved to the Twin Cities in 1960. JaNette taught a church sponsored Kindergarten for a few years, then, in 1971, founded the Christian Day Preschool for 3 and 4 yr. olds, located in churches in Eagan, Apple Valley, Rosemount, and Bloomington. In 1975, Lloyd and JaNette purchased a home which had available space for a day care program and for additional classes of Stepping Stones for 2 ½-3 yr. old children, and kindergarten for 5 yr. olds. After 28 years, the Christian Day program was sold to Minnesota Valley Church in Lakeville, MN. The Christian Day Child Academy continues today.
In 2011, Lloyd passed away. Lloyd and JaNette are survived by their children Julie Brandt-husband Robert-children Mark (Blair), Eric (Celeste), and Benjamin (Jennifer); Mary Selck-husband Scott-children-Jessica Rice (Todd), Nicole, Joseph (Shondra), Cory (Stefanie); Ritch Flogstad- wife Monika- daughter Celena; and 16 great-grandchildren. JaNette is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, her parents Victor and Edna Olson, sister Idabeth Amundson, and brothers Kenneth and Emmett Olson.
The Flogstad family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude for the loving acts of kindness extended during this difficult time.

JaNette will be laid to rest with her husband, Lloyd at Ft Snelling National Cemetery.
