James Carl Krause, a loving husband, father, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on July 11th, 2024, at the age of 72.
Born in Aurora, Illinois on December 20, 1951, Jim was the son of Charles Wood Krause and Jerry Lee Shank. He grew up in Kentucky, attending Bourbon County High School and graduating from Millersburg Military Institute in 1968.
His thirst for knowledge led him to Hanover College in Indiana, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Jim then served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force as a WSO (Weapon Systems Officer) from 1973 to 1979, flying F-4 fighter jets.
Jim found love with Karen Elizabeth Batcha, who became his wife in 1975. Together, they started a family and raised three children: Krysta, Bryon, and Michael.
Jim’s dedication extended beyond his family. He embarked on a successful career as a software developer, spanning over four decades. Jim continuously broadened his expertise, obtaining a Master’s degree in Software Design and Development from the University of St. Thomas.
Jim will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his service to his country, his passion for painting and photography, his love for nature and the outdoors, and his lifelong pursuit of knowledge.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jerry Lee. Jim is survived by his loving wife of over 49 years, Karen; children, Krysta (Tom) Paquette, Bryon (Nicole), and Mike (Jessica); grandchildren, Alex, Parker, Brayden, Avery, Ella, Owen, Bennett, and Hudson; sister, Kathie (Randy) Hock; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial Service at 11am on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Spirit of Life Presbyterian Church, 14401 Pilot Knob Rd., Apple Valley, with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment at Lebanon Cemetery.
