Jones, Howard Jr. “Jay”
Age 81 of Prior Lake, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024. Preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary; parents, Howard Sr. & Frances; and brother, Rev. David. Survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Pat; children, Howard III (Patty), Christopher, Brian (Lisa), Wendy (Doug) List, Jennifer (Kent) Flannery, and Kelly; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, July 15, 1943. He was surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He graduated from Mercersburg Academy and Gannon University in Pennsylvania. He was a successful businessman who traveled the world, improving the companies he worked for and his teammates because of his expertise and leadership. During his career, he worked for IBM, Unisys, Lockheed, and BAE, always in the defense sector. After retiring from these companies, Jay started a home health nursing company, Superior Home Care Nursing in Lakeville. Jay also served as President of the Home Care Association of Minnesota.
Jay and Pat moved to Minnesota in 1988 and considered this their forever home. He loved his family above all else and always enjoyed having them around. Jay will be remembered for the sharp mind and calm demeanor he brought to all life’s challenges. His enthusiastic pursuit of sailing, ham radio, flying and other hobbies inspired many to join him on those journeys. His curiosity was infectious, and his disciplined approach to life made him a great role model for friends and family.
Jay was good at everything. He made us want to learn more. He showed us how to face life’s challenges with intelligence and compassion.
May he rest in peace, and may we draw strength from the time we had with him.
