Eckman, Helen V.
Age 98, of Cottage Grove. Preceded in death by husbands, Paul Wolf and Harold Eckman; 2 sons, Charles Wolf and Harold “Butch” Eckman; parents, William and Hannah Anderson; brothers, Carl, Philip, Paul and Wallace; and sister, Eleanor. Survived by daughters, Karen (Ted) Gredvig and Becky (Preet) Sidhu; 3 grandchildren, Anders (Ruthie) Gredvig, Annika and Savita Sidhu; 2 sisters, Martha Hawkinson and Ruth Jessen; and a brother, Lennart Anderson; sisters-in-law, Patty, Hazel, Ida Anderson, and Bernice Skogen; and many nieces & nephews. Helen was born in Swea City, IA, grew up in Orient, SD, and lived in South Mpls. for 50 years. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, The American Swedish Institute, The Muscular Dystrophy Association and Scandinavian Organizations. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, love of home cooking and baking, pride in her Swedish heritage and the love she shared with her family, especially her grandchildren. Helen’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 23 at 12 noon, at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 147th and Garrett Ave., Apple Valley with her visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to ELCA World Hunger, The American Swedish Institute or donor’s choice. Special thanks to the staff at Norris Square, Cottage Grove where Helen lived the last 2 years. Private family burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
