Olson, Frederic M.
Age 86 of Hastings, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2016. Preceded in death by his wife, Janet. Survived by his children, Jeanne (Randy) Conlon, Mary (Mike) Pearson, Mike (Patty) and Don (Rita); grandchildren, Scott (Annie) Pearson, Ashley Conlon, Brett Olson and Amanda Olson; sisters, Nancy Kolniak and Barbara Richards; sister-in-law, “Bunny” Howard; many loving nieces and nephews. Fred was a graduate of Minneapolis South High School in 1948. Following high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was in the 1st Marine Division, Weapons Company 2nd Battalion, First Marine Regiment when he served in the Korean War. Fred went to work for Northwest Airlines and later Allied Aviation. He was also employed by Rosemount School District #196 as a school bus driver for 40+ years. Fred enjoyed spending time at the lake with his children, riding motorcycles, traveling to southern California in the winter, and attending the National Stearman Fly-In in Galesburg, Illinois. He also enjoyed model railroading, and playing cards with family and friends. He was an avid marksman and enjoyed target shooting in his backyard or where ever he traveled. He was a life member of the Farmington VFW Post #7662 where he served as Post Adjutant. Visitation from 5-8 PM on Wed., Aug. 24 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Thurs., Aug. 25 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 3700 160th St. E., Coates, MN 55068, also with visitation one hour prior to mass. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to VFW Post #7662 Sypal-Lundgren, 421 3rd St., Farmington, MN 55024.
