Thorsvold, Elna Roscille passed away on Jan. 14, 2007. She was born June 21, 1918 in Hazel, MN to John & Thora Hesby. As a child, Elna lived with her parents on farms near Arlington and Lake Preston, SD. She graduated from Arlington High School. Elna wa a homemaker and moved with her husband, Rufus to Lake Preston, SD and then Mason City, IA. Elna was very involved with church activites teaching Sunday School, directing choirs, playing the organ and participating in Bible Study groups. Elna and Rufus moved to Apple Valley, MN in 1999. Elna was married to Rufus on March 16, 1940 at her parent’s farm near Lake Preston, SD. She is survived by two sons, Roger and wife, Karen of Irion, IL and Gordon and wife, Leslie of Winnsboro, SC; daughter, Janice and husband Gene Austad of Apple Valley, MN; 8 grandchildren, Roger Thorsvold, Jr., Renee Thorsvold DeCola, Rachel Gerrans, Brian Thorsvold, Becky Brown, Kari Hubbard, Julie Murgic and Jeff Austad; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Garmon Hesby of Arlington SD and sister, Pearl Pedersen of Brookins, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rufus and grandchild, Steven Thorsvold. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 18, 2007, 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd., Apple Valley, MN. Visitation will be at the church at 10:00 AM on Thursday. A Memorial service will be held at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington, SD on Saturday, January 20, at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at the Arlington Cemetery.
