Edna Pearl Prestholdt (Overby)

Was blessed with 98 years of life well-lived. Lovingly surrounded by family, she passed away peacefully at North Memorial Hospital on October 23, 2012 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna & Peter Overby; brother, Harold Overby; and husband of over 50 years, Orville H. Prestholdt. Survivors include her sister, Audrey B. Overby; daughter, Ila (Barry) Anderson; sons, Dennis (Linda Walker) Prestholdt & Perry (Cynthia) Prestholdt and cherished grandchildren: Sunday (Noel) AnderJohn, Nickoel (Matt Brown) Anderson, Kari (Adam Meyer) Prestholdt, Kristopher (Teri Eckel) Prestholdt, Jeffrey (Paige) Prestholdt, Jennifer (Charles Weed) Prestholdt and Jeremy (Nicole) Prestholdt. She also delighted in her 15 great-grandchildren: Arrick & Thorin Brown, Steven Brown, Briar & Winter AnderJohn, Bronwyn & Axel Meyer, Gavin & Tanner Prestholdt; Abigail, Carissa & Lindsey Prestholdt; and Eliza, Sevrin & Simon Weed. Edna was born July 9, 1914, raised in South Minneapolis, graduated from Central High School and lived most of her life in Golden Valley, recently as a resident at Covenant Village. She was devoted to her family and was proud of her Norwegian heritage. Prior to his death, she and her husband enjoyed Norwegian folk-dancing with the Norona Leikaring Scandinavian-American Folkdance Group, and periodic travels to visit family in Norway. She was recently honored for 50 years of loyal membership by Vonheim Lodge #108 of the Sons of Norway. Her engaging wit, humor and affection for her family & friends will be dearly missed. She was a faithful member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Golden Valley, 7520 Golden Valley Road, where visitation will be held on October 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow. Private interment at Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Mindekirken/Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church of Minneapolis 924 E. 21st St., Mpls., (www.mindekirken.org) or to Calvary Lutheran Church of Golden Valley (www.calvary.org). The family is grateful for the support and compassionate care provided by the staff of Covenant Village and the Hospice Unit at North Memorial Hospital.
